Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)
NLP is the study of how our mind interprets the information it receives through our senses (sight, sound, touch, smell, taste) into a language that it can understand.
We are not born with low self-esteem, tendencies to over eat, or suffering from compulsive behaviours. These are all habits we have learned and practised so often that they become part of “who we are”.
For example someone might be overweight and wants to be slimmer and healthier.
However their brain still suggests food when they feel uncomfortable, because eating for many years made them feel better about themselves. It is an engrained pattern of behaviour. NLP techniques may be used to assist the individual to adapt whatever they are doing into behaviours that could give them the results they so greatly want. NLP aims to increase the choices available in any situation, and remove the limitations which currently prevent sound choices being made.
The techniques can be used alone or in conjunction with Hypnotherapy to help with many issues.
They may be used to eradicate phobia’s, anxiety, anger, trauma, grief and guilt; improve sports performance, business or academic; and improve any aspect of your life where communication ( whether internal or external) is a factor .
NLP’S potential application is almost unlimited. Experts believe that NLP enables us to become more aware of our thoughts and how we translate those thoughts to actions. As we now know, the mind and body are inextricably linked and effect each other, the quality of our thoughts impacting on our bodies stress levels. Negative thoughts, by placing a strain on the immune system, are also believed to create conditions for disease and ill health.
Replacing these negative thought patterns with positive ones might assist good health and speedy recovery from illness.
Please note this does not replace traditional medicine but it is complementary too it. Doing something well, consistently, is not an accident, it is a process. NLP might help you learn that process and put it into action in your every day life.
