Acupuncture
The ancient practice of Acupuncture started in china approximately 3000 years ago.
The first documentation os acupuncture that described it as an organised system of diagnosis and treatment is in the Yellow Emperor’s classic os internal medicine which dates back to 100 BCE.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through the skin at strategic points on your body. It is known for balancing the life force in our bodies called Qi or (chee). This energy flows through pathways called meridians. By inserting needles into acupuncture points energy flow will be restored achieving homeostasis in the body. There are many pathways throughout our bodies, called meridians. Energy flows through these meridians . Each of the main meridians link to a different organ in the body.
There are acupuncture points along each meridian, which all have their own healing benefits when stimulated.
When energy can flow freely through all meridians, we have good health, feel vibrant. But when energy becomes stagnant and can’t flow properly, due to living an unhealthy lifestyle or from long term emotional issues, illness may occur.
When an acupuncture needle is inserted, it restarts the flow of energy, blood and lymph. It also stimulates nerves, which signal the brain to start the healing process.
Endorphins or feel good chemicals are released, and the sympathetic nervous system is calmed, making it easier to the body to heal itself. Our bodies are self healing, when given the right tools.
Acupuncture cools what is hot, warms what is cool, moves what is stagnant, balances what is unbalanced, protects against external pathogens, rehydrates what is dehydrated and removes dampness.
A 2017 review suggests that many acupuncture points are at sites where stimulation can effect the activity of multiple sensory neurons. These sites are also known as receptive fields. The physical stimulation of needle insertion at these sites may affect pain processing in the central nervous system and muscles and increase blood flow to certain parts of the body.
Acupuncture treats the root of the condition. We do this by tongue and pulse diagnosis.
